The Seashell is based in a picturesque hamlet called Glenmore, with a distillery and Visitor Centre within a stone's throw of the house. It is remote and accessed via single-track roads. The Ardnamurchan Peninsula is a quiet place for escape. There won't be crowds obscuring views, or queues to see and experience the natural attractions. It is wonderful for people who like slow adventure: exploring diverse landscapes, hiking, wild swimming, cycling, boat trips, and wildlife spotting. Places to visit include the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, the Ardnamurchan Distillery, Castle Tioram, the Glenfinan Viaduct and Resipole Galleries, among others.

We do not accept dogs at The Seashell. We love dogs though, and accept them at our sister property, Aspen Lodge.

Each season has its own appeal. In the spring, everything is in bloom and starting to awaken. In the summer, the stunning white sand beaches and vibrant turquoise waters come into their own. In the autumn, the purple and orange heathers come out providing a rich, colourful backdrop. In the winter, the area becomes even more quiet - the dark skies are perfect for stargazing and occasionally glimpsing the Northern Lights.

For evening meals, the nearest restaurants are 30mins drive from the house. We are lucky to have very high quality restaurants in the area, including some that are Michelin star rated. We provide details in our digital brochure. We also have a homemade meal service available.

No, but there is a loch for cold water plunges and natural seaweed treatment.

There are a number of key spots to visit if you want to see wildlife. We detail these in our digital brochure. Also, guests tend to leave information in our guest book about wildlife that they have seen. To encourage wildlife at the house, there are bird feeders and an area to put out food. The local pine martens particularly like eggs, jam and peanut butter.

The rule of thumb is that we offer week long breaks. The house is a long drive from most places so this offers a good amount of time to relax into your stay.

When booking through our website, we take a non-refundable 25% deposit on booking. The balance payment falls due 8 weeks before the start of your holiday. At that stage we also take a refundable security deposit that is returned within 14 days from the end of your stay, subject to the house being returned in good condition and with no damage.

To secure your booking, we require a 25% deposit at the time of reservation. As we are a small, independently run property and dates are often booked well in advance, this deposit is non-refundable. The remaining balance is due 8 weeks before arrival. Cancellations made within 8 weeks of your stay are non-refundable. For your peace of mind, we strongly recommend taking out comprehensive travel insurance.

Nowadays most mobile networks have coverage at the house but due to the remote nature of the area the strength of the signal can drop in and out.

No, a standard vehicle is fine in most conditions, though care is advised in the winter months.

The nearest shop is based in Salen, 30 minutes drive east of the house. Morrisons based in Fort William can deliver food to the house. We provide information about this with our booking confirmation.
